Proclamation
Due to the Corona Virus (Corona Virus Disease 2019) Covid-19 outbreak started in Hubei Province, China and quickly spread to other countries world wild including United States of America. Covid-19 being a new strain of Virus, therefore neither Vaccine nor Medicine is available for it today. This Corona virus is very dangerous to human life. The quickly spreading natures of this virus from person-to-person have created the major concerns in loss of life or serious disability to all the Buddhist Monks and Lay devotees in all temples and other Buddhist gathering places.
The Council of Thai Bhikkhus in U.S.A (CTU) have made this Announcement available to all Thai temple members and all Thai Buddhists to strictly follow the below guidelines.
1) Please strictly follow the criteria set forth by the council and Maha Sangha at the Sixth/2020 agreement#137/2020 which all temples are already familiar with. Also, the criteria set forth by the Office of the Thai Buddhist National in recommending preparedness to prevent community spread and guard against the potential of a Covid-19 pandemic February 28, 2020.
2) To strictly adhere to the Announcement from The Council of Thai Bhikkhus in U.S.A. March 6, 2020 concerning travelling to and from virus infected country in order to protect the health and safety of all the Buddhist Monks and Lay devotees due to the spreading of Covid-19.
3) To cancel large events or any Buddhist Cultural activities for the safety and well-being of our staff, participants, and the community.
4) To closely follow the Health Declaration/Announcement of local and Federal governments about the Covid-19 virus. See: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/index.html for details.
5) And that the Buddhist residents and member temples should remain alert and follow Officials’ order, news, in order to be informed of the situation on the Covid-19 virus.
