Phramaha Piya Uttamapannyo
About
Venerable Phramaha Piya Uttamapunyo was born on November 06, 1977 in the province of Udon Thani, Thailand. In 1992, he was ordained as a novice. In 2000, shortly after completing the highest grade of Pali studies, he received his higher ordination under the royal patronage, being given the monastic name “Uttamapunyo” and was thus referred to as “Phramaha PiyaUttamapunyo.”
After his graduation he became a Dhamma & Pali teacher at various schools and temples in Thailand.
In 2002, he went to India to continue his M.A and Ph.D. study, after graduation he helped serving the work of Oversea Buddhist Missionary Monk in India. After that he returned to Thailand and trained under the Oversea Buddhist Missionary Monk Project. In 2007, he came to USA to serve as a Dhamma & Meditation teacher at the Buddhist Meditation Center or Wat Pasantidhamma, Virginia.
In 2011, when Thai Buddhists established the meditation center in Pittsburgh, his master appointed him to serve here. Beside that he also served meditation classes in 4 different prisons in Pennsylvania since 2013 and share the Buddha message all over United Stated. He travelled to many countries to attended the religious meetings and share his experience.
Currently, he is the abbot of Wat Prodketchettharam of America and secretary of International Buddhist Sangha of Niagara Falls.
